PROJECT

Our values are equity, solidarity, sustainability and innovation.

Overview

The BRAVEST project will analyse the factors that have influenced the organ procurement and risk management processes before, during and after the onset of the SARS-Cov2 pandemic. The project will focus on specific clinical features of donors, outcomes of allocation procedures, and operational practices to ensure the safety and continuity of organ supply.

The main measures will be the rate per million inhabitants of donor signalled and procured, successful organ transplantation and the short-term outcome for transplant recipients.

This analysis will also focus on recipient management procedures during the pandemic, aiming to further understand adverse events and the organ allocation obstacles faced by transplant candidates. For example, when transplant programmes are unable to accept available organs due to a lack of personnel.

Data analysis based on artificial intelligence algorithms and integrated with existing published data will allow the project to derive evidence to support the production of robust guidelines and enhance the delivery of clinal practice procedures. Additionally, the proposal of innovative actions directed at improving the resilience of transplantation systems and networks will favour equitable access to transplantation for all patients with end-stage organ disease.
